BFA's Mural Mentorship Program is Shaping the Next Generation of Artists

Real-World Experience. Lifelong Impact.

BFA’s Mural Mentorship Program is empowering local emerging artists by offering paid opportunities to work side-by-side established professional muralists. Through these partnerships, aspiring artists develop both their personal and professional skills while contributing to large-scale public artworks. The resulting murals transform ordinary, empty public spaces into vibrant, inspiring environments, sparking conversation and leaving a lasting impact on the community.

“Our Mural Mentorship Program was created to enrich the community through art while supporting emerging artists in their growth and development,” said Jarett Levan, Board Chair of BFA. “Public murals bring joy to the local community, inspire conversation and enhance neighborhoods.”

2026 Mural Mentorship

Congrats to the five artists, Michael Andress AKA Mongo Art, Alyssa Book, Zoraye Cyrus, Anthony Hinds JR, and Haydee Rancel who were chosen from among seventy-six applicants to paint a 23 ft x 70 ft mural at Florida Purchasing Agency, Lauderdale by the Sea under the mentorship of Lori Pratico.

This project was funded by Wayne and Lucretia Weiner, Dara and Jarett Levan’s Fund at the Community Foundation of Broward and Florida Purchasing Agency.

Over $6000 was raised during the making of this mural to benefit the Friedreich’s Ataxia Research Alliance on behalf of Team Crizzy.

2025 Mural Mentorship

A 247′ mural wraps around the corner of 17th and Andrews Blvd, Fort Lauderdale at Broward Health. Thanks to a mentorship funded by Lucretia and Wayne Weiner. Lead by artist Lori Pratico, and created by artist mentees Patricia Kluwe Derdarian, Colin Breslin, Ashlee Sanford, Sara Marcano and Stephanie Leyden. Additional funding provided by Cathy and James Donnelly Family Foundation at the Community Foundation of Broward, Crown Residential and Broward Health.
