Supporting the arts in Broward County is easy thanks to Business for the Arts of Broward (BFA) and a $25,000 BBX Capital Foundation 1-1 matching grant. On April 30th new projects were launched on www.power2give.org/broward, a national online platform managed by BFA. Every dollar you give will be doubled during the 90 day fundraising cycle or until the $25,000 runs out. For example, if you give $100 the match turns your contribution into a $200 donation. With a variety of diverse projects, everyone can find something that tugs at their heartstrings. Past successfully funded projects have included The Art & Culture Center of Hollywood’s Snoopy Jazz Party, which received 100% funding on the site. Live jazz performances of Peanuts-themed music, guest cartoonist and interactive demonstrations for kids were part of the project.

“Thanks to Business for the Arts of Broward, we have been able to raise funds to make arts education and exhibition projects accessible to children and families from low-income households in Broward County. These funds supported an after-school arts program for at-risk families who are receiving services at Women in Distress, and reduced tuition scholarships for children who wanted to attend our popular Summer Arts Camp, but would not have been able to do so if not for funds raised at power2give. Thanks to power2give, we also raised necessary funds to present live jazz music by Joe Donato for the opening day of our 2013 summer exhibition, Charles M. Schulz: Pop Culture in Peanuts,” said Joy A. Satterlee, APR Executive Director Art and Culture Center of Hollywood.

These funding efforts enabled the Center to fulfill their mission to make the arts accessible to all populations in Broward County. Children in particular benefited by being exposed to programs in which they learned an artistic skill, worked in creative teams to prepare for an exhibition or performance, and most of all had a fun and memorable experience. By exposing children to the arts through these projects, Arts & Culture Center of Hollywood helped build their confidence and self-esteem in a safe and supportive environment outside their school or home. Now you can make a direct impact on our community by making a donation in any amount.   Non-for-profit cultural organizations are hoping that this cycle will bring much needed donations for projects delivered right here in Broward County.   Visit www.power2give.org/broward and help them by giving directly to local arts, science and history projects you are passionate about.
